Legacy Fan T-Shirt
Legacy Fan T-Shirt
Legacy fan: United before 1992. The "Super League" debacle may have been the culmination of this squalid project; but make no bones about it, everything that has been happening since 1992 on the part of the Premier League, UEFA, FIFA, and the larger clubs has been to take football away from its traditional fanbase and monetise it for the benefits of those who can extract the most from it.
Starting with the formation of the Premier League (which dramatically reduced the proportion of revenue allocated to the clubs outside of it), we have seen many clubs, including our own, bought by speculators and investors whose only motivation is monetary value. We have seen the sportswashing of various despotic regimes allowed to pass without protest by both our own footballing authorities (hello city) and FIFA (Qatar 2022 anyone?). And to cap it all, anyone with a connection to the game before this cash-driven frenzy took over has been labeled as a "legacy fan", in contrast to those supporters whose monetisation is the very thing the owners and regulators seek. So, legacy fans, United since before 1992, wear your colours proudly.
